The Cosmologist Who Claims to Have Evidence of the Multiverse

How did our universe begin? This is one of the most profound questions in existence, and it may seem impossible to answer. However, Laura Mersini-Houghton, a cosmologist at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, believes she has cracked the code. Born and raised in Albania under a communist dictatorship, Mersini-Houghton overcame adversity to pursue a career in cosmology. Her revolutionary theory proposes that the early universe can be described as a quantum wave function, giving rise to multiple universes, including our own. She also predicts that evidence of these parallel universes can be found in the cosmic microwave background radiation, leftover from the big bang.

In her new book, “Before the Big Bang: The Origins of Our Universe in the Multiverse,” Mersini-Houghton shares her ideas and her personal journey. In an interview with Sciencewithrv, she discusses the impact of her upbringing and her passion for understanding the universe.
