White House and Google Unveil Virtual Tour with Audio Captions and Spanish Translation

The White House and Google have teamed up to launch an interactive virtual tour of the famous mansion. This initiative, which coincides with National Civics Day, aims to make the White House accessible to everyone, regardless of their location or ability to visit in person.

Using Google Maps and Google Arts & Culture, users can now explore the various rooms of the White House as if they were on a public tour. This virtual experience is the result of the first lady Jill Biden’s mission to make the White House more inclusive and educational. Teachers can utilize this resource to teach students about the history of the White House.

One notable feature of the virtual tour is the inclusion of audio captions, narrated by White House social secretary Carlos Elizondo. These captions provide viewers with valuable historical information about each room. Additionally, this is the first virtual tour of the White House by Google to offer Spanish translation.

The tour begins with a video message from President Joe Biden and the first lady, mirroring the experience at the White House Visitors Center. Google Street View was used to capture the imagery, ensuring a seamless and immersive virtual tour. The tour can be accessed through the White House website, Google Maps, and the Google Arts & Culture page.
